O’Brien and Dalcasian Clans are destined for Ireland in 2014 for an event to reunite the hundreds of thousands of O’Briens throughout the world!

The O’Brien Reunion

Europe's largest urban park - five times the size of London's Hyde Park, double the size of New York's Central Park.Beginning in April, 2014, A March of Warriors to Dublin’s Phoenix Park on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, is being proposed as one of the special events to commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of a former High King of Ireland. The ‘warriors’ would depart, from several venues around the country, to the Phoenix Park, where they would spend the night.

On Easter Monday, they will march with members of O’Brien clans from around the world, from Phoenix Park to Clontarf, under their respective banners.

Former Lions Rugby captain Keith Wood and international comedian Brendan Grace have been selected as Brian Boru 2014 ambassadors. Conor O’Brien, chief of the O’Brien Clan, is honorary president and festival ambassador.

A campaign is underway to make Killaloe the “Honorary Capital” of Ireland for a period of time to commemorate the fact that while Brian Ború was High King of Ireland (1002-1014) and ruled from Kincora Castle, Killaloe was Capital of Ireland.

Other events throughout Ireland to include: Education, a charity walk “March of the Warriors,” music, battle re-enactments, dramas, sporting events, an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Brian Ború, and a concluding Brian Ború Ball.

Celebrating Brian Boru

Brian Boru will be officially celebrated from March 15 to 17, 2014 with music, battle reenactments and the National Lottery Skyfest fireworks display on the evening of March 15 and planned for either Tountinna mountain in North Tipperary (from which the fireworks could be seen from 5 counties), Two Mile Gate outside of Killaloe on Lough Derg, or the historic bridge in Killaloe/Ballina.

A Mass in remembrance of Brian Boru is planned for the subsequent Friday, followed by a civic ceremony to possibly unveil a monument, or launch a commemorative coin or stamp.
